Yoga and Witchcraft for Beginners: A Little Movement, A Little Magick
Have you ever wanted to explore yoga and witchcraft but felt like you needed to know a hundred different things before you could actually begin? Maybe you're curious about incorporating magick into your yoga practice, or you're a spiritual witch who wants to connect with your body a little more.
Either way, I have something for you!
As a yoga teacher and practicing witch, I've always loved finding ways to bring these two parts of my spiritual life together. But I've also noticed how easily we can overcomplicate spirituality. We collect the tools, read the books, research the rituals, and sometimes overwhelm ourselves before we've even started.
What if we made it a little easier?
That's the inspiration behind Spells & Stretches, my new beginner-friendly YouTube series combining gentle yoga, intention-setting, and a little everyday magick.

Why Combine Yoga and Witchcraft?
If you've followed my blog for a while, you probably know that yoga and witchcraft are two of my favorite things to talk about. I've even written about The Magick of Yoga and Witchcraft and shared a more in-depth look at Where Yoga Meets Witchcraft: A Practical Guide.
While these practices come from different cultural and spiritual traditions, I've found that they can complement one another beautifully.
Yoga has deep roots in Indian spiritual philosophy and offers us so much more than physical movement. Through breathwork, meditation, and mindful movement, we learn to become present and develop a deeper relationship with ourselves.
Witchcraft, particularly modern earth-based practices, encourages us to work intentionally with the world around us. We observe the seasons, honor the cycles of nature, connect with Spirit, and create rituals that bring meaning to our everyday lives.
To me, combining yoga and witchcraft is about bringing those intentions into the body instead of keeping them entirely in our heads.
Think about it. We might cast a spell for confidence, but what does it actually feel like to stand confidently in our own body? We might perform a ritual to release something, but can we also practice softening our grip and allowing ourselves to rest?
Yoga gives us an opportunity to embody the intentions we're setting through our magick.
And you don't need to consider yourself a yoga witch, spiritual witch, or anything else to explore that connection. You just need a little curiosity and the willingness to begin.

A Little Yin Yoga, A Little Magick
The idea for this series came to me during my yin yoga training at the Soul of Yoga Institute, here in San Diego, California.
I've always appreciated the spiritual side of yoga, but exploring yin inspired me to think about how I could make my own yoga magick practices even simpler and more approachable.
If you're unfamiliar with yin yoga, it's a slower style of yoga where we settle into postures for longer periods, often with the support of props. Rather than trying to achieve the deepest stretch possible, we're learning to work with our individual bodies, explore sensation, and allow ourselves a little space to be still.
That slower pace can create a wonderful opportunity for reflection, meditation, and intention-setting.
It got me thinking: What if we paired just a few accessible yoga poses with a simple spell or ritual? Something meaningful enough to carry into the rest of your day, without needing an hour of free time or an elaborate setup?
And so, Spells & Stretches was born!
Introducing Spells & Stretches: Yoga Magick for Beginners
Spells & Stretches is a free YouTube series featuring 10–15 minutes (or less!) of accessible yoga and a little witchcraft.
Each episode includes one to three yoga postures, often drawing from gentle or yin yoga, paired with an intention and a small spell or ritual.
We'll explore themes like releasing what we've been carrying, softening into ourselves, grounding our energy, building confidence, and finding clarity.
Some days we'll work with affirmations or visualization. Other days, we might incorporate a little earth-based magick or an ordinary object you already have around your home.
And while the episodes are designed with beginners in mind, they're also for experienced yogis and witches who want to slow down and return to the basics.
This isn't about doing more. It's about creating a few meaningful moments for yourself and learning to carry that intention beyond your mat.
What Do You Need to Practice Yoga Magick at Home?
One of my biggest goals with this series is to keep it as accessible and affordable as possible.
You don't need an elaborate altar, a room full of expensive yoga equipment, or an entire cabinet of witchcraft supplies. In fact, I'm intentionally creating these practices with everyday household items in mind.
That said, there are a few yoga props I personally love having around, especially for supported yin yoga poses.
Here's a simple beginner-friendly setup:
Yoga mat: A comfortable, non-slip surface for your practice. My favorite mats are these Liforme ones. If you're just getting started, a carpeted floor or folded blanket may work for certain gentle postures.
Yoga blocks: These are wonderful for bringing the floor closer to you and helping support different postures. I prefer heavy duty/ high density blocks like these. Depending on the pose, sturdy cushions or folded blankets can sometimes work as alternatives.
Yoga bolster: Probably one of my favorite props for yin yoga! A bolster like this one helps support the body so you can settle into postures more comfortably. Firm pillows or couch cushions can often do the trick.
Yoga blanket: Great for extra cushioning, warmth, or supporting sensitive knees and hips. I love using mexican blankets or regular household blanket works beautifully.
Yoga strap: These gaiam straps are helpful for certain stretches without forcing yourself to reach further than is comfortable. A towel can sometimes work as an alternative
You don't need to buy everything at once. Use what you already have, make adjustments when necessary, and remember that every body is different. You should feel supported, not like you're fighting your way into a pose.
As for the witchcraft supplies? I'll keep those simple, too. Sometimes we'll use a stone, a candle like these chime candles, a piece of paper, or something found in nature.
Remember, all you need is your intention.
Honestly, some of the most meaningful spiritual practices I've experienced have also been the simplest.
Want to Explore the Spiritual Side of Yoga a Little Deeper?

If this series sparks your curiosity about the philosophy and spiritual foundations of yoga, I'd also love to introduce you to my book, Embracing the Sacred Flow: Spiritual Yoga for Healing the Mind, Body, and Spirit.
I wrote it especially for people who want to explore yoga beyond the physical postures but aren't quite sure where to begin.
We explore yoga's spiritual roots, breathwork, mindfulness, grounding, the Yamas and Niyamas, and ways to create a more intentional practice that extends beyond your yoga mat. You'll also find reflection questions and journaling prompts to help you connect the teachings to your own life.
It's not about becoming the most flexible person in the room or memorizing a bunch of Sanskrit terminology. It's about understanding yourself a little more deeply and discovering how yoga can support your own journey of healing and self-discovery.
PS: I'm working on another book specifically for Yoga Witches, that will hopefully be done by the end of 2026 early 2027
