For years, I had a coven and a spiritual community that I loved. Then, as life tends to happen, everyone slowly scattered across the country. I still had my own practice, but I missed having people to actually practice with. I missed gathering for the moon cycles, talking about what we were learning, creating rituals together, and having friends who understood this part of me without a lengthy explanation.

So I decided to start building that community again here in San Diego.

The Liminal Flame is a North County San Diego coven and spiritual community for witches, yogis, mystics, empaths, and anyone interested in exploring spirituality with other people in real life. We gather for full moon Yoga rituals, moon circles, Wheel of the Year celebrations, goddess workshops, spiritual development, spellwork, with the more than occasional witchy party because I want this to be meaningful, but I also want it to be fun.

I have a lot of ideas for where this could go. Right now, I am most excited to meet the people who will help shape it.

Why I Started The Liminal Flame

Showing up for the moon cycles in spiritual community changed my life. My personal practice mattered, but gathering with other people gave it roots. We learned from each other, supported each other through big seasons of change, and made space for conversations that did not always fit neatly into everyday life.

I know I am not the only person in San Diego who has been piecing together a spiritual life mostly on her own. Maybe you have a Yoga studio, a tarot deck, a meditation practice, or a shelf full of witchcraft books, but you do not necessarily have people to share any of it with.

That is the gap I want The Liminal Flame to fill.

I am not trying to create a perfectly polished spiritual scene or a space where everyone has to believe the same things. I want a thoughtful, empowering community where we can practice, learn, ask better questions, make friends, and bring what we are learning into our actual lives.

Full Moon Yoga and Moon Circles in North County San Diego

Our San Diego moon circles bring ritual and embodied practice together. Some gatherings may include Yoga, meditation, breathwork, journaling, spellwork, sound healing, energy work, tarot, or group reflection. The exact practice will change with the moon, the season, and the intention of the gathering.

Full moon Yoga is one of the offerings I am especially excited about. Rather than treating the moon as a theme added to a regular Yoga class, we use movement as part of the ritual itself. The body gets to participate in the release, reflection, and transformation instead of leaving all of that work in the mind.

You do not need to be advanced at Yoga, and you do not need years of experience with witchcraft. Beginners are welcome. Experienced practitioners are welcome. Curiosity and respect matter much more to me than how long you have been practicing.

Seasonal Rituals and the Wheel of the Year

One thing that I'm excited to bring to the table is that The Liminal Flame will also gather around the Wheel of the Year, including the solstices, equinoxes, and seasonal celebrations such as Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh.

I love seasonal practice because it reminds us that life does not move in one constant upward direction. Some seasons ask us to create and be visible. Others ask us to rest, grieve, release, listen, or begin again. Ritual gives us a way to notice where we are instead of rushing immediately toward whatever is next.

Our Southern California witchcraft events may include altar work, seasonal spellwork, mythology, local nature-based practices, shared meals, discussion, dancing, or creative ritual. Some gatherings will be reflective. Some will be celebratory. Some will probably be a little bit of both.

Witchcraft Workshops, Yoga, and Spiritual Development

This is not only a full moon group. I want The Liminal Flame to become a place for ongoing spiritual development and shared learning.

You also do not have to choose one perfect label before joining us. Witch, yogi, spiritualist, mystic, empath, pagan, energy worker, or spiritually curious are all welcome. The overlap is actually where things get interesting.

A Different Kind of San Diego Conscious Community

I want The Liminal Flame to contribute something grounded to the larger San Diego conscious community. Spirituality can help us know ourselves more deeply, but it should also influence how we treat people, how we participate in our communities, and what we do with our power.

For us, magick is lived, not performed. That means community over competition, personal sovereignty alongside collective care, and empowerment that includes accountability. It means making room for joy, grief, light, shadow, creation, destruction, and the complicated middle spaces where most real transformation happens.

The Liminal Flame is LGBTQ+ affirming, anti-racist, and committed to creating an inclusive spiritual community. People of all races, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and spiritual backgrounds are welcome. I encourage you to come with curiosity and an open mind! We may not agree on every idea, but respect is nonnegotiable. There is no room for hate here.

Looking for a Witchy Community in San Diego?

Currently, most of our in-person events take place in North County San Diego, specifically Vista, making the group especially accessible to people in Vista, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, San Marcos, and Escondido. We also welcome people from across San Diego County, Southern California, and the greater Los Angeles area who feel called to make the trip.

There will also be online gatherings and seasonal retreats, so you can stay connected even if you cannot attend every local event.

The Liminal Flame is new, which means the community is still becoming what it is meant to be. I have plenty of ideas, but I do not want to build the entire thing in a vacuum. The interests, energy, and participation of our members will help determine what we explore and create together.
