Cleansing Energy: 5 Easy Ways to Reset Your Vibe and Space
If you're on the spiritual path, you'll know how important it is to cleanse your energy and maintain a positive vibe. Cleansing energy is one of those practices that can sound abstract until you realize you’re already doing it instinctively, all the time. Every day, your energy field interacts with your environment, other people’s energy, emotional stress, digital noise, and the physical spaces you move through. None of that happens in isolation.
Over time, those interactions shape your energetic state, influencing mental health, focus, and your overall sense of well being. When energy isn’t cleared, it can settle into stagnant energy, showing up as feeling stuck, overly sensitive, mentally scattered, or weighed down by heavy energy that doesn’t quite feel like yours. These energy clearing practices aren’t about fixing yourself or rejecting life. They’re about supporting your vital energy, restoring balance, and keeping energy moving so it doesn’t linger where it no longer serves.
Below are five easy ways to reset your vibe and your space through energy cleansing rituals, plus I've included bonus spiritual floor wash, one of my favorite ways to help promote healing for both your mind and physical space. Enjoy!

When Negative Energy Builds Up and Affects Mental Clarity
One thing to pay attention to is that negative energy doesn’t usually arrive loudly. More often, it accumulates quietly through daily life and over the days and weeks, and we don’t realize its impact until burnout starts to surface. Yikes.
You might feel it after scrolling social media too long, after an emotional conversation that stays in your body, or when you walk into a room and immediately sense something feels off, or when life is being particularly challenging and things don't seem to be going your way. Stress, emotional labor, and other people’s energy can collect in the energetic field, affecting both the physical body and mental clarity, leaving us feeling over-encumbered with unwanted energy.
While concept like energy work seem very new age spiritual, they're not. In fact, across many cultures, including indigenous cultures, cleansing wasn’t reserved for ritual alone it was part of everyday awareness. This is where energy work begins. Simply paying attention to how your body, space, and emotions respond is often the first and most important cleansing act.
1. Alternate Nostril Breathing (An Easy and Effective Technique)
This is one of my favorite forms of breathwork for clearing energy, especially when my mind feels busy or my nervous system feels overstimulated. Breath is one of the fastest ways to shift energy because it works with both the physical body and the subtle body at the same time.
Alternate nostril breathing helps bring the system back into balance. It supports mental clarity, steadies the breath, and gently resets your energetic state without forcing anything.
How to practice:Sit comfortably. Using your right hand, gently close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale slowly through the left. Close the left nostril with your ring finger, release the right, and exhale. Inhale through the right, switch, and exhale through the left. Continue for a few rounds — even one to two minutes is enough.
This practice often leaves you feeling clearer, calmer, and more centered.
2. Dry Bathing for Energetic Cleansing
I find this to be a very effective technique because it blends the physical and the spiritual. Your body is constantly processing energy — not just your own, but other people’s energy, emotional residue, and stress you didn’t have time to fully feel in the moment.
Over time, that buildup can show up as tight shoulders, heaviness in the chest, or pressure in the head. This kind of energy work isn’t about diagnosing or fixing — it’s about creating space and allowing release through physical gestures.
This practice is similar to dry bathing in Reiki, known as Kenyoku Ho, a grounding technique used to clear the energy field and reset the body.
How to practice:Using your right hand, sweep from the top of your left shoulder down to your fingertips. Switch sides, then repeat once more on each arm for a total of three sweeps per side. Move with ease and intention, imagining heavy energy and emotional buildup releasing.

3. Energy Healing Through Smoke, Sound, and Scent
Energetic cleansing doesn’t need to be complicated or look the same every time. Different moments call for different tools.
Smoke cleansing with white sage or palo santo are traditional options when used respectfully (and are ehtically sourced), but sound and scent can be just as effective. Sound, such as bells, sound bowls, or tuning forks, work quickly because vibration physically shifts the environment. Even modern science recognizes how sound and frequency affect the body and space.
If you don’t have physical tools, you can search YouTube for sound bath healing or 520hz energy clearing and let it play softly to reset or fall asleep.
Scent works more subtly. Florida Water is one of my favorite ways to energetically cleanse because it's easily accessible and is a great way to reset without using smoke. Apply some onto yourself, the back of your heads, your temples and your pulse points. Spray some at your altar, or on doorways.

4. A Spiritual Bath or Shower for Energy Cleansing
Water is one of my favorite tools for energy cleansing. It moves, it carries, and it returns things back to the earth. Across many cultures, water was understood as a way to reset the energetic field, not just clean the body.
This is why I love bath soaks so much. Warm water softens the body and allows stress and unwanted energy to release naturally, helping restore mental clarity. A spiritual soap also works great if I don't feel like soaking that day.
How to practice: I find that the ritual is more in the art of being fully present as you shower. In a bath, soak and imagine heaviness dissolving. In a shower, let water run over the crown of your head and visualize energy washing down and away. Be intentional as your cleanse yourself and breathe deeply and allow yourself to drop into the sensations your body is experiencing.
5. Clearing Your Space to Feel Lighter at Home
Whether you care to admit it or not, your physical space and energy are always in conversation. When a room feels heavy or chaotic, it often reflects stress, conflict, or emotional transitions.
Clearing your space is a form of care. Cleaning, opening windows, and letting in light help restore flow. Not to mention the art of physically tidying up your home. I love pairing this with a simmer pot to gently cleanse energy while engaging the senses. I recomed making your own recipe but it can be handy to have premade blends handy.
How to practice: Prepare your simmer pot (check out some ideas here) and tidy slowly and intentionally. Open windows if possible and imagine the space releasing what no longer serves and becoming supportive and calm.

Bonus Tip: A Spiritual Floor Wash Ritual
Floor washes are an old form of energetic cleansing, used across many cultures to clear lingering energy from a home. They’re especially supportive after conflict or emotional stress.
Prepare warm water with Florida Water, salt, and optional herbs like basil or rosemary — associated with renewal, clarity, and protection. As you stir, let the scent ground you.
Mantra:
“What lingers here is gently released.
May this space be clear, calm, and at peace.”
Move slowly as you wash, imagining stagnant energy lifting and harmony returning.
Optional Timing
New Moon — resets and fresh starts
Waning Moon — releasing heaviness
Monday — emotional and home care
Saturday — deeper clearing and protection
Sensory Anchors
Notice scent, sound, and movement
Feel your feet connected to the earth
Final Thoughts on Energetic Hygiene and Energy Cleansing Rituals
Cleansing energy isn’t about fearing dark or heavy energy but about self care. We can't always run away from bad or negative energy as uncomfortable and stressful situations are simply apart of everyday life. However, when energy cleansing rituals become part of daily life, we’re less likely to carry what isn’t ours and more likely to move through the world feeling grounded and supported. I highly recommend you pair this energy clearing rituals with doing the Spiritual work. Click to learn more about how inner work is the ultimate self-care ritual.
Thank you for being here and sharing your time with this space. May these practices meet you where you are and support you whenever you need clarity, balance, or rest.
