A Quick Blurb on: Is Yoga Witchcraft?
Is Yoga Witchcraft? Believe it or not, this question is asked, a lot. The short answer is no but I do feel that Yoga is Magickal, which is why I have Yoga Magick & Witchcraft as one of the taglines for my blog. It's magick in the sense that it's an incredible supplement to my Witchcraft Practice, it keeps me grounded, it keeps me in my body, and with someone with chronic anxiety, and a fair amount of ADHD, adding a consistent yoga practice helps quite a bit. There are definite similarities in the practice of Yoga and Witchcraft for sure, so please check out this blog post if you'd like more information on the similarities and overlaps of the two practices, and tell me what you think of the question Is Yoga Witchcraft?
Yoga Magick: Three Simple Poses for Yoga Witches
Since ancient times, yoga has been the go-to for enlightenment of the mind, body, and soul. It is no wonder why us witches have sought to incorporate it into their magickal practice. Yoga offers a way to connect with our spirit and harmonize with the universe. It helps us become more attuned with our own power, and through it, we can manifest our desires. Now, we know what's coming next. The unspoken question: How can I find time for Yoga in my busy life?? I promise, it's not too hard! In this blog, we will explore the magick that yoga has to offer by highlighting three simple yet powerful poses that every yoga witch should try.
Downward Dog - Adho Mukha Svanasana
Downward dog is one of the most popular yoga poses for a reason. It is a pose that stretches your entire body while also relaxing your mind. This pose is great for witches because it helps to remove negative energy while grounding you. To begin, come into a tabletop position on your hands and knees. Keep your hands shoulder-width apart and your knees hip-distance apart. Take an exhale breath and lift your hips towards the ceiling, straightening your arms and legs, forming a triangle shape. Hold the pose for at least five deep breaths.
Mountain Pose - Tadasana
Mountain pose is a fundamental yet powerful pose that helps to improve posture and circulation while calming the mind. This pose is great for witches who are seeking to connect with the earth and their higher selves. To begin, stand straight and tall with your feet hip-width apart. Bring your arms to your sides, palms facing forward. As you inhale, lift your arms up towards the ceiling, feeling your spine lengthen. Hold the pose for at least five deep breaths before bringing your hands back down.
Tree Pose - Vrikshasana
Tree pose is a beautiful and empowering pose that allows you to channel your inner goddess. This pose is great for improving balance and focus while also calming the mind. To begin, stand straight with your feet hip-width apart. Place your right foot on the inside of your left thigh, keeping your left leg straight. Bring your hands together in prayer position and lift them towards the ceiling. Hold the pose for at least five deep breaths before switching sides.
I'd really encourage my fellow witches to try and start integrating yoga into your spiritual practice. The above poses are definitely easy yoga poses, and a great way just to get familiar with stretching your body and learning how to concentrate and clear your mind. These three poses offer a simple yet profound way to connect with your innermost spiritual self and tap into your inherent power. Remember that yoga is a journey, and it takes time to master each pose. So, don't be afraid to take your time and enjoy the process. With a regular yoga practice, you will develop a deeper connection to yourself and the universe while unleashing your unique magick.
Do any of my fellow witches already practice yoga? How has it changed your life?
